Google announced about its browser called Google Chrome yesterday. Today it was launched and was available for download.

I downloaded it and used it for around an hour. Here is my first look on it.

Google Chrome Download and Installation
Total download size of this version of Google chrome was about 7.5 Mb. The installation was quite smooth. There was no problem. After installation it asked me whether I would like to import data from my other browser. I skipped the step as I was still testing it.

This data from other browsers can be imported any time by going to “Settings -> Import bookmarks & settings…”.

Interface & Design
The interface is quite clean and little similar to Firefox. I would say it is one of the cleanest interface for the browsers. Very few buttons/links in front of you, what you just need for surfing.

Google Chrome is based on the existing rendering engine called Webkit.

The address bar of the browser has auto-complete feature.

So, overall I liked the design. The pages are loading faster. It is not taking much of a memory (like firefox).

The launch is announced at their blog here.
